Hand-Delivered Hope: EveryGirl. in India and Nepal

Trips to India and Nepal never fail to stir something deep in my heart—the people, the culture, the sights and sounds. I also deeply treasure the time we spend each year training and encouraging our women as they grow in confidence, knowledge, and leadership in their communities. But this trip carried something especially meaningful for me. I had the privilege of hand-delivering 34 EveryGirl. kits to teenage girls at Ibrahimputnam Adventist School in India, and 6 kits to two of our workers from the remote village of Rukum, Nepal.

Spending time with the girls at Ibrahimputnam was a joy. They shared that while menstruation is mentioned in their biology classes, it isn’t taught in much depth. Many of the girls still lack basic understanding of their own cycles, and purchasing disposable pads month after month is costly. Sitting with them—answering questions, encouraging them, helping them better understand their own bodies—was incredibly meaningful. Being able to place reusable pads and period underwear into their hands, all lovingly donated by individuals here in the States, made it even more special. Thank you. The smiles on their faces said everything.

One of my favorite moments was with the 10th grade girls, who asked me to pray with them as they prepare for their upcoming exams. Their dreams are big!  One even shared her hope of going to seminary someday. Their faith, determination, and hope for the future were deeply moving.

I had set aside a few kits to bring to Nepal. Rukum is a three-day journey from Kathmandu, and we have two young women serving there as health workers. I wanted them to have the gift of high-quality, reusable pads, and we were also able to send a few kits with them to share in their village.

As we talked, they told me that a local Nepali organization comes once a year to distribute menstrual pads, but there are never enough for everyone. It was encouraging to hear of local people helping meet this need—but it’s a reminder of just how great the need still is. Ultimate Mission is honored to be part of this growing movement of care and dignity.

To everyone who sewed pads, assembled kits, and donated funds.  Thank you for helping girls in India and Nepal feel confident, cared for, and supported any time of the month.
